I was so hopeful that applying the information in this book would eventually fix my frozen shoulder, but it did not. I was so disappointed. I could tell when massaging certain trigger points that I was feeling it in other places in my shoulder, arms and hands, but faithful application multiple times a day over 3+ weeks didn't help the pain or range of motion. I am now in month 10 or so of my frozen shoulder. I am over the worst pain but have still not gotten much range of motion back.I did a lot of research and found Paul Ingraham's frozen shoulder tutorial online at painscience.com. He did a meta-analysis of all the studies on frozen shoulder syndrome. I had to pay for the article, but I'm glad I did. Even though it's not a lot of good news (the medical world doesn't know a lot about why frozen shoulders happen and what works to fix them), I'm glad I read the tutorial. At a minimum, it may keep you from spending money on things that have been proven not to work. On that note, the ortho doc who diagnosed my frozen shoulder told me outright that physical therapy has not been shown to help much with frozen shoulder (and it can get very expensive). The only thing that has really helped me is a heating pad and a little throw pillow to position my arm when sleeping. Heat has been very soothing. My mom is starting to get a frozen shoulder, we think (2+ months of pain and loss of range of motion so far). Heat is the only thing that helps her right now as well.I am grateful for this book for teaching me about trigger points in general. I went ahead and bought their other book for the whole body. I can't believe I'd never heard of trigger points before! It's fascinating how our bodies work!If you have a frozen shoulder, I wish you luck. I found out that two women in my neighborhood had frozen shoulders the same time I did. They both started seeing big improvements around the one-year mark. I'm hoping for the same.
